So, back when the first movie (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) came out no one expected the series would get this good right? I mean, I was shocked when that earned praise, then the sequel (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) came and proved the quality of the first outing wasn't a fluke, so yeah, I'm excited.
Granted, one thing that's never worked for me is the ape effects, they're good, but I don't know, the apes have never looked quite right, I can't explain why, maybe they're just too human, which may be the point. It's an odd issue I admit, especially considering I adored the make-up effects of the previous films, which still had the apes looking more human like. Still, the characters and performances are always good, so regardless of the effects never looking right, for me at least, I love watching Caeser and the group.
This time the film seems to be reaching the logical endpoint, war, the past movies have hinted it, but this time, they're there, it's over and done with, apes and humans are fighting for the world, and the apes will probably win. The last one left us with war looming over the horizon, and I'm glad we're picking up after that, especially with the trailer acknowledging Caeser trying to prevent war before this story, it seems the movie is making a point to say "hey the apes aren't evil, they want what we want!" But us dirty humans just never learn.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to this one, I think you should as well.
